I was having a similar thought for a topic like this including opening it up to members who want signature banners & stuff too.

Here's a question I wonder if you can help with. Maybe its just cause I use Paint Shop Pro 9 but when I erase a background I often end up with a bunch of little annoying color specs still left in the background. So after I paste the transparent object onto tge new background I have go around copying parts of the background for covering up all the spots. Does that happen with Photoshop too? If so, is there an easier way to fix that?

Background meant to be gone comes out looking like this

an easy fix is after u cut your image just take select everything around what u want to copy with the polygonal tool and select delete, and it should get rid of all the annoying little leftovers.
