Usually i try to find out what the girl likes. if not I dunno, i think movies are a bad idea.

find somewhere you can socialize, go out for coffee and drive around or something ... who knows

You should take her out for dinner and a movie (possibly opt to watch the movie back at your place if things are going well...) If it's a first date she's going to want to know more about you, so make sure whatever restaurant you go to isn't loud or overcrowded so the communication can flow without much distraction. Also, try to be choosy about what kind of food you eat. Nothing too heavy on garlic, or anything that's going to get stuck in your teeth. Nothing that's known to give you gas either, lol. And, if you do encounter something slightly embarrassing just laugh it off instead of making the situation more awkward. Girls like a guy with a good sense of humor, and someone who can play it cool in a sticky situation. The more comfortable and confident (not to be confused with arrogant) you seem with yourself, the more comfortable and confident she'll feel about dating you.

That's sweet and all, but don't you girls decide in the first few minutes if they are going to make the grade or not? So the rest is just so you girls don't look like a ho.
