No power and a tragic death!!!

Most of you know Ike hit Texas, then went up and terrorized the midwest. Well, Sunday here in Ohio, we had a nice day, but strong winds. Those winds, knocked down trees, powerlines, and made a mess.

Just in my apartment area, we had a few tree limbs down, a stop sign broken (wooden, it blew over and broke), and of course a power outage for nearly 3 days.

However, during this storm. I'm saddened by the death of old neighbor of mine. Whose name should be familiar news wise. Randy Schaffer, father of missing OSU student Brian Schaffer, was killed over the weekend when a tree limb fell on him. It was not known how it happened or exactly when. Supposedly, he hadn't showed up at work, and his work called neighbors, and that's how his body was found. Due to neighbors checking on him.

Personally, it hurts me, cause I know what he was going through with his son, and the death of his wife. It's another tragic turn in this family's history. Right now, my full prayers are with his survivng son Derek and Randy's brother Tim, as well as the neighbors and friends we shared living in that area.

The good side to it is, he's now in a better place with his wife, and hopefully his son, Brian. I just really feel bad for his son who's still alive as well as the rest of the family and friends. The turn of events they had to face over a few years, is heartbreaking in every sense. I ask that some of you do pray, to keep this family in your prayers.

It sucks to die by a tree limb, but it could be worse.

No, I'm not saying that. I'm saying that he is possibly dead. After a couple years of missing, things wouldn't look good. He quite possibly is gone. Which is sad as well.

I did visit with ex-neighbor and close friend of Randy's today. We asked him to give the family a sympathy card from my family. In talking with him, we found out, he was the one to find his body underneath the tree limb. The limb broke his neck, and went though his skull. The limb fell so close to the house, where he had no way to escape getting hit. There were people nearby. However, they couldn't see what happened. They didn't realize anything was wrong til later. Jerry had searched the fallen limb a couple times and saw nothing. It wasn't til Monday morning, that he did another look, and then found his shoes, then the body.
