Anyone else see Sunday's premiere episode of True Blood on HBO?

(I caught it last night on Comcast On Demand)... created by Alan Ball who did Six Feet Under...and a few other shows.

What an intense show! Vampires "come out of the coffin" because some Japanese scientist has created True Blood, a blood susbtitute that can sustain them...and the story begins two years later... great acting, great plot, great sets, lighting, camera work...tasteful nudity...

Lots of gore...some violence..not for the squeamish...

Apparently vampires are highly sexed... and a few humans enjoy doing them, and also drinking vampire blood... interesting twists and turns.. I was on the edge of my seat...

Yeah... the only good things about it are the decent (not great) dialogue and the plethora of hot chicks, especially Anna Paquin. The acting is some of the worst I've ever seen on HBO (again -- especially Anna Paquin), and the characters are lame.

Definitely not HBO's best work. I'm hoping the A Song of Ice and Fire series gets greenlit and saves the network. HBO hasn't done anything interesting since Deadwood and Carnivale. They need to step up their game.

That's not really a "twist"... vampires have always been portrayed as sexual creatures.
