Girl gets detention for wearing Playboy sweats to school

KISSIMMEE - Gateway High School junior Elizabeth Johnson got an unexpected fashion lesson this week: two days of detention for wearing a pair of sweats with the Playboy name and logo on them.

Elizabeth says she was approached by a dean who insisted she change the offending pants, and she eventually did. But the 17-year-old says the school, which required her to stay after school for one hour on two school days, overreacted.

"The bunny is just a logo," she said. "There's nothing objectionable about that."

"They're black sweats," said Elizabeth. "They are thick, cotton, exercise pants. . . . I was dressed tastefully."

Yeah when I was in high school, I was suspended for wearing a t-shirt that said "no pimp required". Schools are always so stupid about these kind of things.

I agree with the school's ruling , porn has it's place , keep it away from the children. If she had worn an outfit with a 'bang-brothers" or "hustler" motif , would that have been acceptable too ? Are we to become like Rome in it's final days , that didn't turn out too well did it ? Society must set boundaries while preserving individual freedoms or Anarchy looms , I think.......

I agree.

I am pretty sure the school has a dress code. It doesn't seem too silly to ask the student body to dress in respectable attire. We want as little distraction as possible for those trying to get an education.

Agreed, back in my day the most erotic thing we saw in the lat 80's/early 90's in HS was a bit of the chicks ankle, damn big champion sweaters, you never knew what you were gonna uncover back then hooking up with a girl cause the sweaters were so big so it hid the boobs, and covered the ass and stomach. Somedays I got handfuls of stuff I didn't want to get handfuls of.
