An open apology for my behavior

Last night, I did a really stupid thing. I publicly attacked someone here, and that was wrong. Worse, I did it publicly, and that was unconscionable. What is even worse, to me, is that it was someone I care about and considered a friend. To me, that makes it unforgiveable.

Those that were here know what I'm talking about. Those that were not may not know, as I have erased what I said. If there was a way for me to actually erase having said it, I would do so, but sadly, I cannot.

I have already apologized, or tried to, directly to the person involved. Whether they choose to accept it, acknowledge it, or even read it, is up to them. All I will say now is that I meant what I said, and that I am, truly, and deeply, sorry for what happened and for what led up to it.

To those that were present when it happened, I also offer my apologies. What I did was inexcusable. It could not have been pleasant for those of you to be there.

I can perhaps offer explanations, but to me, excuses are, and always have been, useless and meaningless. What was done was done, and no reasoning can change it. When the behavior in question was as wrong as mine was, there is no excuse.

I can only say that what happened was, I think, out of character for me.

If I offended or pissed off any of you, I am sorry. I consider you friends, and hope that those actions do not change that.

Again, I am sorry.

What happened?

I've done/said things in the heat of the moment when I've been upset/angry before both here and in the real world. We've all done it. The important thing is that you've recognised you might have hurt someone and apologised. I'm sure they have/will understand once you explain it to them. :

I think it depends on what was said and the person to whom it was addressed. My experience has been that some people are less apt to forgive and forget.
